My poster for The Relish Collection Series (aka "the Femalehusbandverse") (2015) especially "The Female Husband" made for
kerkevik_2014. This poster is an adaption of one I originally made for Ray as an unofficial banner (#8) for the
wicked_awards at his request. He asked me to make some banners for his own nominated stories and wished for something female-centric rather than the male-centric official nominee buttons. I'd been meaning to make a fic poster for that series for some time and Ray's "commission" gave me an excuse:

For his nomination, he used #3 at his journal. It's not in the style of the official buttons but I liked the way it came out. I then made myself a Fuffy-themed banner that I really like but again - not in the style of the official buttons so I've decided against using it. (The beautiful textures in both courtesy of
sweet_lyri.)

Oh, I do love warmth in icons. It feels like it makes the image more vivid, corporeal and attractive. I'm also developing an incredible fondness for violet in icons and violet is in between cold and warm.
Beautiful banners! I love them all, honestly. These ladies are hot!

YESSSS - I make the pictures, I leave the amazing words to you.
And I love purple tones so yes, violet but I love all shades of purple.
These ladies are hot!
I admit - I'm perfectly shallow (and there ain't nothing wrong with that! *lol*)
I was thinking of you today - I saw some of your posts at a buffyverse S10 comics forum. And nodding vigorously to your complaint of being tired of "incompetent Buffy" characterization. Yes I am reading the S10 comics and LOVING them - as long as I don't read what other people have to say about them and keep it my private little funtime. Gage can be heavy-handed with the themes and the sentimentality but he gets the humor and the banter just right, and I love the characterizations.
And, I actually really like Levin's artwork - for reasons - and I'm as shocked as anyone that I'm saying that.

Date: 2015-08-28 05:59 pm (UTC)The only thing I truly miss is Buffy. Buffy being the headbitch in charge, Buffy saving the day, Buffy growing up. It feels kinda like she's stuck and while it feels also very real for that phase of her life, I just need kickass Buffy to do awesome stuff.

Date: 2015-09-03 06:12 pm (UTC)I apologize for taking so long to reply to this! Because my response is YES YES AND YES. Where's my Big Damn Hero? My HBiC?
She has her moments in S10 but there still feels like something missing in this version. In both the script and the artwork, to her wardrobe (I still don't understand who Isaacs dresses Buffy, I really don't. The fact that she's better than Jeanty is a really low bar IMO.)
But even if the comics had the best writers and artists in the world working on it - and it doesn't (why does the A&F title always get the better artists and writers? Why can't we have nice things?) it would never be the tv Buffy, it would never be Sarah Michelle's Buffy (Sarah fought for the character and there's something to be said for that. Buffy in the comics is a puppet for Joss and the writers with no one to fight for her, except the fans who love the character. And we don't count anyway do we?)
It doesn't help that her primary dilemmas this season are all about the shipping. they tried to get away from that in S8 - 9 and that's not a bad thing in and of itself. But it gets back to Joss' decision to "deconstruct" the myth of the hero/superhero. But Buffy was already meant to deconstruct that mythology. Tearing her down, making her dumb, incompetent, a bank robber, a sex addict, a sociopath, incapable of being a leader, a lover, a friend, robbing her off her elegance, her womanliness, her intuition and her strengths, has led us to this. As much as S10 feels closer to the tv show at times, it still comes from the comics, not the tv show.
Joss is really is NOT about celebrating strong women, if all he can think to do is break them down, violate them, take away everything that made them interesting to start with.
Buffy has moved on - you have to look for her in other places. In the women of the Carbon Grey series and in the current Wonder Woman comics - both of which have amazing artwork - in Katniss Everdeen, and I'm kicking myself for not going to see Mad Max Fury Road in theaters so now I have to wait to see it on DVD.

That did come out nifty didn't it? I shall see what I can do.

Date: 2015-09-03 08:41 pm (UTC)S10 feels more Buffy than the previous seasons. I think that Gage has a better grasp or maybe a fresher approach and the whole living together helps the group dynamic. But we need fresh meat and a reason to still looking for Buffy as a hero. Plus she deserves better!
(I still don't understand who Isaacs dresses Buffy, I really don't.
AMEN! Fail, fail, fail.
Buffy is elegant, sophisticated and always on trend! On the plus side I adore Willow's style. Her outfits are lovely!

Don't feel pressured tho! I know that you have a lot of stuff to think about and I don't want to bother.
