1) Many congrats to the winners of [livejournal.com profile] otherworldlyric challenge 180 [livejournal.com profile] pickamix and [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams! I'm not sure I've ever said how much I love the color-matching [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams does with her awards banners (buttons?) She makes the button look like a natural extension of the icon itself, and I envy appreciate that ability.

Full disclosure: I guessed the first place winner might be Megan's after I cast my vote because of it's wittiness and the perfect match of lyrics and image. I didn't guess who did the 2nd place winner - also Megan, as it happens. Girlfriend's got range. And if y'all have known me for at least five minutes, you know I DON'T CARE who made what or if I can guess according to style etc when I cast my votes. My love for someone, your friendship and kindness to me, has not now nor ever will win you a vote. I vote for the work. No apologies.

Challenge 181 has been extended a week, so you've still got time to come up with something to go with "Eye of the Tiger" and I am dying to see folks deconstruct that song or employ it ironically. Thrill me, people. I know you can do it.

Speaking of voting:

2) The voting posts for Round 3 of [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 are up! Themes, Category (Magnifying Glass) and Artists Choice.

Full disclosure #1: I would actually vote for some of my own work this time, were it not my own work.

Full disclosure #2: I'm not telling anybody to vote for me VOTE FOR THE WORK but that said, I think my work is actually worthy of more votes than it's gotten so far darn it but you didn't read that here is that a horrible thing to think or am I really REALLY deluding myself here?

Full disclosure #3: I've decided to hold back any alts and extras, inclluding banner/poster-sized work from this set, until after the voting is over in the interest of fairness. I want you to judge the work I submitted without having the memory of other stuff influencing you for better or worse. And I will probably stick to that policy in future Sound ok?

Shiny! (And very difficult)

Right? there were one or maybe two that were relatively easy for me - most of them were kind of a nightmare in that "so much good stuff how can I choose?" way. Have you voted yet or are you letting it percolate overnight?

I already voted. I'm for the quick "just do it" style because if I think about it more I really won't choose.

I often end up having to think about it overnight; the times when I don't are the exceptions.

I think that if I had to vote a second time, I might choose differently because there were so many fine icons (AGAIN) It will only get worse I'm guessing in fall when more people are participating after summer break.

Go you! (I had a helluva time making decisions, you?)

Definitely. But I voted absolutely for the icons I thought were the very best.

But of course, I expect nothing less m'dear!

My problem is sometimes (A LOT) I thought several were of equal quality and wanted to choose more than I'm allowed to, My ongoing complaint (the pain, oh the agony.)

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly, hon - and no apologies for the brevity. (I wish I be quick and concise instead of always writing replies that are longer than the Constitution *lol*) I do hope you feel better very soon.

I think my work is actually worthy of more votes than it's gotten so far darn it but you didn't read that here is that a horrible thing to think or am I really REALLY deluding myself here? I think you feel that way because you are feeling more confident about your skills and because you are proud of the work you are doing. Plus it's hard to step back and objectively view your own work. Even when I know my a/w isn't my best work, I still think it should have gotten more votes.

That's why when I love an icon and it wins, (like the Allison Hannigan icon for btvs_hush) I'm super thrilled!! Even though I'm sometimes surprised an icon didn't win......I do know I can be delusional when it comes to my a/w. ~_^

*nods* I'm sort of cringing now that I wrote that - or that I posted it (way to drive away voters, right?); but on another level, I'm ok with it because who hasn't felt that about their work at least once?

And I often feel that way about other people's work as well, that certain things are not getting the love they should *cough* your round 2 sorrow icon *cough*

Plus it's hard to step back and objectively view your own work

Absolutely. The funny thing is, while I'm making them, it works the opposite way. I often hate what I'm doing and am beating myself up with how bad it all is. But I can see ALL the reject versions, all the errors - it's not until I pare it down to the actual entries that I'm able to really feel I did something worth seeing.

That's why when I love an icon and it wins, (like the Allison Hannigan icon for btvs_hush) I'm super thrilled!!

And when I love an icon and it doesn't go anywhere, I'm more disappointed than I would be otherwise. (When one I didn't think all that much of does win, I'm super perplexed. Flattered. but still perplexed.)

BTW, Your Aly icon was my personal top choice that, and no contest - you should be proud, it's a real beauty. The coloring is superb, and it's not an easy color combination to get right. And I had no idea who made it, I just knew I loved it. (I was happy with mine as well.)

I imagine this is going to a tough 20in20 round to vote for. I vow to vote for what I think is best though.

Believe it or not, I didn't vote for any of the icons that won this past round of OWL.

this is going to a tough 20in20 round to vote for.

I think in some ways it was tougher than the first two rounds - the work is of such overall quality that I think it makes it that much tougher for any one thing to stand out. So, not voting for something doesn't necessarily mean I don't like it or it isn't quite good.

Believe it or not, I didn't vote for any of the icons that won this past round of OWL.

Curious as to what you voted for if you don't mind saying? I voted for 2 and 3 (Megan's) and I'm pretty sure my third was #7 http://s544.photobucket.com/user/clairedelunex/media/challenges/olyric180-3_zps9684a903.png.html although 4 & 6 were close contenders.

I voted for that one as well.

I also voted for 4 and 6.

Ok, 4, 6 and 7 do have an all of a piece quality to them, they make a very nice set!
