I think Photoshop Elements is as far from Photoshop CC, as Ippiccy is. I used Elements for a few years before I started on Photoshop. It took me at least 6 months before I stopped wanting to go back. I just could not understand Photoshop at all because Elements combines so many functions and runs them behind the scenes for you. It really comes down to what you want to achieve. Photoshop is not for everyone. :D
