what a pity her friends didn't give her the time and patience at this point to love her fragility.

SPEAK TO MY SOUL.

I want to put those last three words "love her fragility" on an icon or a banner at some point (would you mind if I did?)

And it might sound odd coming from a "Buffy fan" but I am actually able to explain a lot about how her friends behaved, or rather, understand that they were all children from dysfunctional families doing the best they could with very little firm parenting or moral guidance at hand. And they're not psychologists in any way.

But still - it's easy to say that things are the way they are because Buffy is the Slayer but that isn't the entire truth. Their relationships because of who they are going back to the beginning, not just because Buffy is The Slayer. I haven't watched Dead Man's Party but the once - I couldn't stand them ganging up on her and making her cry like that when she needed understanding and patience then. The trade off for having a small inner circle of friends and family is possessiveness.

btw, OK if I snag?

Oh my goodness YES, please snag anything you like, with my blessings! I'd be honored if you did.
