Actually the old black and white eps sometimes look better than the slightly later color ones - more like an "old movie" and you're less aware that the Dalek's are made of cardboard, etc. Monochrome hides a multitude of sins!
Tom Baker was my friend's favorite - the most witty, meta and playfully intellectual years and Baker was considered the thinking woman's sex symbol when the show came to America during his years. that's when the producers really courted their adult audience, but she also loved Peter Baker and John Pertwee. I've only seen a couple of clips with Patrick Troughton but what I saw of him was utterly charming. Fans of #11 would no doubt enjoy him. Much of his work as the Dr has been lost, unfortunately.
