Wait, wait -WHAT? How come I've never seen Annie's version - or rather seen this version? I swear I've seen a shortened version by her about a minute long that starts with the lyric "A white blank page" paired with William ripping up his poem. I guess I missed this, Huh.
Anyway, bookmarked now! the beginning started off a little slow on first watch but it really builds beautifully. (And kudos to her for including images from SR as well as more romantic images. they are BOTH part and parcel of this relationship, folks.)
the second one suffers from too much Angel, in my opinion (why is he there again?).
There, there, hon; I know how you feel about that. Have a cookie? A bazooka gun? *LOL*
I agree that showing the kiss in EoD/Chosen is "too soon" - see my comment about "starting slow" above - but in context of the ENTIRE video it makes sense. The video isn't "Spuffy" so much as Spike and his history, putting him and buffy in context of his relationships with Dru, Angel and his mother Anne (to a lesser degree). I'd have said to move that shot further back if anything. (You'd have said "take it out!" right? *LOL*)
The first one is a little too literal for the first verse,
Is it? I'll have to watch it again. I'm usually against being "too literal" or "on the nose" when it comes to lyrics and vids, but it depends. does it fit? how well is it edited? Matching shots just to lyrics is one thing; matching shots to lyrics WHILE ALSO editing to the rhythms of the music is something I admire. A vidder has to be aware of both. (Says the Armchair Critic and Independent Scholar.)
A good example: thedothatgirl's S4 tribute set to David Bowie's "Changes" is what I would normally call "on the nose" with images/lyrics except DAMN, it's right on the money every time. And, again, great editing rhythms.
