I googled "otherkin" and had the BEST laugh I've had in ages *ahem*, and then I read this bit on Wikipedia: Religion scholar Joseph P. Laycock argues that the otherkin community serves existential and social functions commonly associated with religion, and regards it as an alternative nomos that sustains alternate ontologies.[3]
