Aw, terrific work!
I lovelovelove the Tara/Power one (that light!), the Fred/Hands one (such colour). Also the Wesley/First Scene (love the texture) and the Lorne/Last Scene one.

Thank you so much! I'm pleased with how most of these came out.

And I have no idea what your icon means but it's making me giggle anyway.

LOL, it's from Sense8, in the second episode Nomi, a trans woman, makes this terrific speech about Gay Pride:

“I’ve been thinking about my life. And all of the mistakes that I’ve made. The ones that stay with me, the ones that I regret, are the ones that I made because of fear. For a long time, I was afraid to be who I am because I was taught by my parents that there’s something wrong with someone like me, something offensive, something you would avoid, maybe even pity. Something that you could never love.
My mom, she’s a fan of Saint Thomas Aquinas. She calls pride a sin. And of all the venal and mortal sins, Saint Thomas saw pride as the queen of the seven deadlies. He saw it as the ultimate gateway sin that would turn you into a sinaholic. But hating isn’t a sin on that list. Neither is shame.
I was afraid of this parade because I wanted so badly to be a part of it.
So today I’m marching for that part of me that was once too afraid to march. And for all the people who can’t march, the people living lives like I did. Today I march to remember that I’m not just a me. I’m also a we.
And we march with pride.
So go fuck yourself, Aquinas.”

Which is something that, being an atheist coming from a Catholic family, touches me deeply too. (Indeed, go fuck yourself, Aquinas.) And [livejournal.com profile] vikingprincess was kind enough to make me this terrific icon... *_*

Wow, ok that's just - WOW. I know the list of "seven deadly sins" (I was raised Catholic myself, although our family wasn't particularly devout) but somehow that never really hit home, what wasn't on that list, until I read the speech you quoted. (And btw Sensei 8 is on Netflix and I'd been wondering whether or not to watch it, thank you for answering that question.)

Indeed, go fuck yourself, Aquinas.

Indeed - maybe she vikingprincess can put this design on a t-shirt? I'd totally buy that one. It's astonishing how much psychological damage religions have inflicted over the centuries in the name of "God".

Eheh, I'd buy that t-shirt too, but I'm afraid the pic she used is from a book cover. ;)
/thank you for answering that question/ - You're very welcome. *g* I'd totally recommend watching the series, it's visually stunning and there are terrific characters. ;)

Well there's probably the original image of Aquinas that illustration was based from, that isn't covered by copyright law (or really, just an image of any old monk, who would know?) It's a cool idea and then everyone would be like me, asking "What does that mean?"

I love the text she used btw.

I'd totally recommend watching the series, it's visually stunning and there are terrific characters. ;)

*adds series to queue*

Eheh, you know? You're right, that'd be so cool!

Also, it feels like a very appropriate icon to use in the light of the historical ruling of the Supreme Court in the US, after Ireland's historical referendum. If only things weren't still stuck in the Midde Ages here in Italy... *shakes head*

And yet Spain has gay marriage. As does Uruguay in South America. Aren't they both primary Catholic countries? I can't get my head around that. And the fact that, according to friends, Northern Ireland has not adopted gay marriage because of the conservative protestant forces in the country (much like the conservative protestant/fundamentalist forces in the US that held sway in the '80's and '90's.)

It's all just so - weird.

If only things weren't still stuck in the Midde Ages here in Italy... *shakes head*

Sorry, dear! But, um, didn't Pope Francis just write about the importance of ecology? Baby steps? (I keep hoping the entire Vatican and the edifice that is the Catholic hierarchy sinks into the ground never to be heard from again - but I wish that of all oppressive religions. And from what [livejournal.com profile] kikimay has mentioned to me, the Church is still very powerful in Italy.)

But I would wear a "Fuck Thomas Aquinas" t-shirt. I'd actually pay money for said shirt.

IMH the difference is mainly due to:
1. Italian history of political instability (if you're interested, I just posted about it)
2. The fact that other Catholic countries in the world don't have the Pope living *right there*. Of course, there's a long tradition of bigotry to overcome but, more than that, as [livejournal.com profile] kikimay said, the Church's presence has shaped so much of our history and is still such a cumbersome presence in the political discourse.
3. And, of course, the current economic crisis and the migrant crisis are not making things any easier. As always, when things are bad, people tend to find fault in the Other, be it gay or foreign people, and Nationalist (Lega Nord) and Populist (Movimento Cinque Stelle) factions get increasingly more traction.
It's a worrying trend that doesn't leave me much hope for a speedy legalization of Same-Sex Marriage in the near future. *sighs*

/I keep hoping the entire Vatican and the edifice that is the Catholic hierarchy sinks into the ground never to be heard from again - but I wish that of all oppressive religions./ - Eheh, if only!!
And now I kind of want to print that shirt for myself too. :D
