Tsunami of Polls: We moved back into the restored apartment....

......and my first "official" act in fandom was to:

[Poll #1965322][Poll #1965322]

And the correct answer is....

#5! Yup, a massive, massive fail on my part.  Actually, all of the choices represent a massive fail on my part, except for the last choice for which I DO NOT APOLOGIZE.
(She was mentioning how a character in her new novel has an opportunity to mindwipe the memories of another and doesn't because he respects her too much and it's not what she would want. Also, she just began watching btvs S1 at my urging and is NOT impressed with Angel or Xander. At all.) I actually spent hours making icons for [livejournal.com profile] slayerstillness challenge #22 "A Room Full of Emptiness" (Negative Space)" ("Ooh, I can do this one!"); hours dithering over which to chose before deciding to actually ask my beta [livejournal.com profile] wickedbish for help; and then failed to send him the link to the Photobucket folder so he could actually see the icons. By the time I figured out my mistake, it was too late to enter the challenge. (And I'm a little pissed at myself, because I think I made some good icons and really enjoyed getting back into the creative flow for the first time in weeks.)

But at least I manage to vote as the deadline isn't until tomorrow (midnight your time) hence still time to vote and pimp it - so there's a penance, at least.

And entries are being accepted for the latest challenge #23 (deadline Friday) so there's lots o' time left to enter. Yup, lots o' time....

The only fail more massive is #4 - I have NOT gotten around to congratulating all the winners of the Willowy Goodness Awards, including [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip, [livejournal.com profile] snogged, [livejournal.com profile] foxstarreh, [livejournal.com profile] clockwork_hart1, [livejournal.com profile] tiny_white_hats, and snowpuppies amoung others. Congratulations to all the winners (by which I include "Runners Up" aka the silver and bronze medalists). I actually did vote in that one too and cheese on a cracker did you folks make it painfully hard to choose!

ETA:  ALL credit to the amazing [livejournal.com profile] eilowyn for urging me to watch Orphan Black, which I'd never heard of until she mentioned it.

Oops! Fixed now, thanks for the eagle eye sweetie! (I love the one you picked btw - IN MY DREAMS. Literally. )

Ah, no, I chose the correct one. Although the first one sounded more fun! :D

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-04-21 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
ETA: Oh hey someone chose #6! (Which was actually a trick question - I did do that, but before we moved back into the "old" apartment.)

Oh the first one was fantastic! [livejournal.com profile] kwritten, [livejournal.com profile] kerkevik_2014 and [livejournal.com profile] clockwork_hart1 read their femmeslash and female-centric gen fics, there was spiced mead and teas and chocolate cake with no calories whatsoever; [livejournal.com profile] eilowyn led the discussion on feminism in 21st century science fiction, [livejournal.com profile] kikimay wore the prettiest bra in the world. This is all true.

Then there might possibly been some sexy-funtimes.

Ok, maybe it wasn't an orgy, maybe it was a college dorm all-nighter? Apparently I confuse the two ;)

I INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST FOR A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION

Why thank you!

(How could anyone NOT ship a lesbian inter-species, Victorian, crime-fighting married couple? Heck, if they ever got a spin-off, Moffat has already declared that it's be called 'Tipping the Scales'. *g*)

(I have no words for people who could deny the world this beauty. Tipping the Scales is a beautiful dream and I demand it now)

The fact that we live in a world where this is an actual canon couple AND you're able to say that Lucy is a very very beautiful thing indeed - and completely unimaginable just a few years ago. The revolution is happening right here, NOW, everyday.

Heck, if they ever got a spin-off, Moffat has already declared that it's be called 'Tipping the Scales'. *g*)

For a second I thought "He's read Sarah Waters?" and then I remembered, oh, miniseries adaption - but anyway my favorite of her first three books is Fingersmith. But how cool is it that he can make that reference knowing his audience will "get it"?

Vastra is a Silurian, one of a quasi-matriarchal species of warlike intelligent dinosaurs which are in suspended animation under the earth until such time as the planet warms up again and the naked apes die out. Every now and then a few get thawed out for Reasons and A) try to take over the world, or in Vastra's case, B) fall in love with a human woman in Victorian England and solve crimes together. It's a Doctor Who thing.

This answer is far better than mine please ignore me

please ignore me

Never! You gave me the cliff-notes version, barb gave me the extended one - both useful to have!

And also, samurai swords. Because they're just that awesome.

There was absolutely sexy fun times, but a couple of people fell asleep in the midst of it all - there's no shame in it sweetie, it was a very long night...

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-04-21 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's ok, they were there for the morning session - and morning sexy funtimes are the BESTEST thing evah. Truth.

this is the most lovely comment ever

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-04-22 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I have quality, high-class entertainments at my quality par-tays. None but the best will do!

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-04-22 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, I forgot to mention your icon of Buffy in The Real Me is beautiful - and that scene gives me so many FEELINGS in hindsight because it's one of the last times we see her laugh in the series, isn't it? Right up there with watching her mother her mother show off her dress before the big date in IWMTLY on my Buffy-feels meter.

[identity profile] kwritten.livejournal.com 2014-04-22 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I've seen so many versions of this icon around and I've never been super attached to this laugh/smile - but I am totally in love with this icon a lot.

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-04-22 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That laugh is one of my favorite gifs but like a lot of things in the series, it only became special in hindsight. *hugs Buffy*

Which is one of the things I love about the buffyverse, as opposed to 99% of tv shows I've seen over 40 years that are meant to be consumed like potato chips and forgotten.

The delicacy of the coloring makes it special though - I didn't notice what image it was until almost after the fact.

And hey I noticed your just another day icon of Buffy walking away from Revello Drive in EP, a scene I have made tons of icons of lately and am kind of obsessed with and HOW did I not notice it before? Because the cheerful gossamer veil of pink overlay and the text on it are so at odds with what is actually happening. I ADORE irony in icons.

And your VM icons reminded me that's also on my must-watch list. So many shows....

[identity profile] kwritten.livejournal.com 2014-04-22 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
lol are you stalking my icons silly? I nearly submitted this one to otherworldly but ended up posting something else I think. I really like how it turned out.

VM is a **must** - although new!Who is also pretty great. (VM is more important, better writing, better show all around but shhh! don't tell anyone I said that. I think you'd like the way VM confronts Feminism and class warfare especially. While Who... just completely fails on that point.)
