Good luck! Its a very brave thing to follow one's heart and passion. Its a very difficult thing however to focus on a path especially when, if you're like me (and it sounds like) you have a variety of interests. I think that makes someone a richer and more interesting human being; the world wants you to "make a choice". My partner heard that in art school; that painters/sculptors have to develop a "recognizable style" and stick to it because that's what galleries and buyers want; but she's always changing her style because she wants to experiment.
My biggest mistakes: switching from my initial goal of wanting to act because I compared myself to other people and found myself wanting; so I decided to be a filmmaker or a writer or a feminist film professor or - something. I couldn't stay focused on just one thing and didn't believe I was "good enough" to do what I'd wanted ever since I'd been five years old. I wish I'd stuck to my guns. (Major health and money issues were in the mix as well. Basically I've become one of those 'old gals' telling the young'ums "don't make the same mistakes I did!" So never mind me.)

Ok, enough of the lecture. ;)
