I haven't been spending much time on LJ lately, but I got the notification I was mentioned. :)
Joss' original movie script can be read online: http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer.html The dream you mention is one of the few things that were taken from Joss' script, which was much darker and more like the show than the movie was. And here's my two-part essay about the movie, the script and "The Origin" comics, the later adaptation of the script (combined with the info and flashbacks from the show) which Joss called "pretty much canon", although it does have some problems (what's up with the green, pointy-eared vampires?!).
Barb had mentioned that function to me the other day - nifty! Thank you muchly for bringing these over - I was away from the house yesterday when I mentioned your essays, bereft my bookmarks folder.
And I do try to make a point of mentioning other people's essays when applicable. There's so much good stuff out there already written, it's no different in my mind than telling someone about a book at the library. And I don't know of anyone else (in this corner of fandom - aka my limited acquaintance) who has done the analysis of movie/script/comic that you did>

YES. Watching in the theater at the time that scene popped out like a diamond in a box of Avon jewelry.
It's nice to have your essays mentioned.
